The information provided at the time of purchase stated I'd receive 4 DVD's. None were included in shipment which consisted of a cheesy expanding file. I called Customer Service number provided. Got the standard "... your call is important to us, a representative will be with you shortly.'. I held the line for 24 minutes listening to an oft repeated few bars of some melody... a customer rep never came on the line. I hung up. The software that supposedly leads you through the process of providing the information you need to create the promised trust, will and powers of attorney is just poorly written, navigation is terrible, everything is just terrible. Additionally the information Suze requires is insufficient to create anything I'd consider acceptable for its intended purpose much less professional. I consider this no more than a scam. I am so disappointed. I want PBS to sever ties with Suze.

The only reason I didn't rate it excellent is upon registering it on line, I was recommended to use a free upgraded product. The online upgrade sellsfor half of what I paid for this version. I live in Nevada, where all wills have to go through probate, so a revocable trust is a must.I figure using this saved me at least $1500. If you have the patience and a printer, the product has verbal and written directionsthat walk you through the process.

Terrible. I owned this product in the past. But could not find it so ordered this (expensive) copy.It will not print without blank rectangles it squares blocking the written text!Worthless. What to do now???!

Again after buying tens of mostly useless books on tonality and a waste of precious funds I find one that gives me what I was looking for. That being practical exercises on the practice of tone and value to create the type of pictures that are in my mind. One of my favorite exercises of which there are many is the tonal collage. What an eye opener. But through luck I find it on sale but now others will unfortunately be taken advantage of by these 'book sellers' who buy your books for pennies and then sell them at outrageous prices...because they can. I certainly hope they will at least re-print it enough to put it in libraries.

A wonderful book. The first time I have found a book that covers the tonal values. A must have book!

Good lessons in tonal concentration. This one helped me get through some roadblocks I had in my paintings.

Considering how important tonal values are to the success of any painting, I was more than a little shocked to find no works devoted entirely to its coverage. This book is loaded with information and stays on topic (this seems to be a challenge for all painting reference books). This book is definitely in my "Top 10 Have to Have to Paint Well" books list. Highly recommended. I agree, too bad it's out of print.

This subject, to be fair, is not an easy one to convey. I had hoped for a "break-through" moment, when I would understand tonalvalues, but as yet, it has not happened.

Tonal value has been a challenging concept for me. Especially in Portrait painting. The exercises in this book are a way to "get it" for me. It goes beyond words and teaches by experiencing through the process. I recommend it for those who learn by "Doing".

Overall I liked the book. It had some different ways of looking at techniques in terms of other art books I've studied. A different way to look at the subject. What I was looking for were the colors that are used in dreary, moody type paintings. I found that lacking.

I have appreciated Norwich's writing in a number of his previous books. In this, his last effort, he takes a fond look at his beloved 'fair France', with which he has enjoyed a lifelong association. This is an old-style political history, focused on the doings and personalities of kings, emperors, and presidents. You will find little social, economic, or cultural history here, and I found myself wishing that he had tried to incorporate more of it into his survey. But I learned a few things I had not known before, and it was an enjoyable read.

Simon Sebag Montefiore, himself one of the masters of narrative history, dubbed John Julius Norwich a true master of the art. And with good reason: his history of Venice and his stunning 3-volume history of the Byzantine Empire are exceptional in scope, knowledge, and erudition. Luckily for us, Norwich managed to complete his last stunning achievement; cramming a compulsively readable history of France from Julius Caesar to the end of World War 2 — in four hundred pages.Obviously he had to compress a lot of history but he manages this with assurance and aplomb. It’s all here: the Romans, the Merovingians, Capets, Valois, Bourbons, and the topsy turvy 19th Century and the nightmare World Wars. How does he do it? Everything important to twenty centuries of French history is touched upon, sometimes in detail, sometimes in bracing brevity. Inconsequential kings, rogues, and popes are dispensed with with no apology. As a mostly political history he concentrates on the truly significant with occasional swipes at personages once considered to be crucial. Louis-Philippe comes in for some deserved praise while Napoleon III does not, nor does the bizarre General Boulanger. Louis XI and Philip the fair are properly discussed; but, the reader is mercifully spared a lengthy chapter on Louis XIV. Norwich may deem Louis a great king, but I have to disagree. The arts were advanced but he set Louis XVI on his ride to the guillotine (with the ‘help’ of the execrable Louis XV).The discussion of the Franco-Prussian war is a model of concision and a Francophile can be forgiven disgust at the Prussian onslaught, the Commune, and the desecration of the Prussian king crowned Kaiser of Germany at Versailles.Norwich ends with the horrors of the wars with Germany starting in 1924 and 1939. After which: de Gaulle. More than anything this book is a loving homage to France, it is hard to put down, and it left this reader with overwhelming sadness that Sir John had not tackled him the subject years before. At least we have this last book. Again, those interested in sublime histories should consider his histories of Venice and the utterly compelling story of the Byzantine Empire. Vale, Sir John. "I know I have said it before, but this is almost certainly the last book I shall ever write" - JJN March 2018. My favorite current historian died on June 1. RIP.He wrote many good histories but the Byzantium trio and Sicily duo are essentials.

Beautifully written and easy to understand history of France. Highly recommended for those who love France and French culture!

A technically well written historical summary that is too brief by half. And that perhaps is the reader for whom this book is best suited - those already well versed in French history who are looking for a light refresher. Unfortunately for the uninitiated, A History of France acts as a whirlwind of names and distracting footnotes. It breezes with great speed through major episodes and eras without bothering to put events into historical context. The focus is much more on creating a laundry list of the names, titles, and bedroom scandals of various nobles, with their confusingly intertwined heritages and rival claims for succession, while skipping past more meaningful discussion of political economy and cultural evolution. I'm only halfway through at this point, however I sense I will have to seek out another history of France if I wish to better understand the country's historical character and the role it has played on the world stage.As another reviewer put it - "Readable but unenlightening."

Having travelled to France recently, I became interested in its history.

Do yourself a favor. Regardless of whether you purchased the hard copy of this book (highly recommended) or not, the pleasure gained by consuming this superb work will be increased by orders of magnitude if you listen to the audio version as read by the author. His erudition and love for France ooze from every syllable. Several stories and phrases ("...small dried turd.." and "...what a way to go...") will stick with you for life. But none more so than the author's recollection of one of the experiences of his own father, Duff Cooper, who served as ambassador to Paris. The emotional account of Cooper and his associates honoring simple French citizens for their acts of bravery and courage battling the Nazi's during World War II is so powerful and moving that I made every member of my family listen to it.You should too.

accurate

Its so cool to be playing Jeff Beck songs. They sound so difficult but are not that hard at least the basic song. I'm not saying I am playing exactly like Jeff but the book gets you in the ball park and is pretty accurate for most of the songs. It is missing little bits here and there but you really have to listen to the songs and fill in whats missing. Overall I think it's worth the money. I'm having a blast with it.

Knew most of this album/CD by ear, was interested in learning/analyzing "Diamond Dust", which is good...was hoping the Max Middleton keys parts would be arranged more than they are.

Awesome songbook!
