As a nurse educator and clinical nursing instructor, I have searched several years for just such a book with little success until now. We teach therapeutic communication techniques in the classroom and encourage students to practice with patients, but I find that students and new graduates still struggle to feel comfortable with these techniques. I was easily able to incorporate the case study and role play exercises from this text into my clinical in-services. The exercises were in groups of three with one student as the nurse, one as the patient, and one as an observer to take note of the communication interactions. The groups became beehives of discussion, which is always a delight for any instrutor.After practicing several scenarios in the small groups, I had each group discuss their interactions with the class. The students were full of great communication ideas and examples. As they discussed their interactions, I was able to educate them on and point out barriers to and enhancers of communication, cultural and social differences in communication, and guided communication for goal attainment (to name a few). I found this setting for communication technique practice to be especially helpful to the more timid students.From the perspective of the students, they commented that the exercises were "a fun way to learn" and "very helpful". I'm looking forward to using these case studies and exercises regularly!

Personally I try to make everything I knit look good on both sides.All the swatches are knitted in beige yarn -- this is a very good thing, because it helps you see what the pattern looks like very clearly. However, some swatches will naturally produce wavy rows if knitted in stripes or gradient colors, and it would be nice to explicitly show those variations (e.g. stitch #117). Consequently each swatch needs to be examine very carefully to consider wave potential, if that is what you want. (For example, compare Shawl #6 with the much better use of color in Tori Gurbisz's similar "Ecstatic" shawl on Ravelry.)And there are only a handful of horizontal insertions, which can be real workhorses of shawl knitting (though many of the patterns can be adapted). But most knitters will have other stitch dictionaries on hand to supplement the approach in this book. :}Also, the names & stories of these stitches are almost completely absent. If someone likes stitch #70, there is no way to know that is the same as the classic Feather & Fan. Only the first 9 stitches are named, and no stitch history is given -- did she find them in an 18th century source? Bavarian or Japanese stitch dictionary? in one of Barbara Walker's Stitch Treasuries? did the author unvent it herself? She does include a few nupps, but for those who like that aesthetic, no mention is given of the fact that these are traditional Estonian shawl stitch used in many other patterns from that region.Practically every shawl shape she illustrates is some sort of symmetric triangle. There is no attention to rectangular stoles, or rectangular shawls which have a central rectangle (Shetland, Orenberg, Estonian) -- but of course, these are easy to configure based on the extensive information that is in this book.But another fun shape that is missing is the more modern side-by-side asymmetrical triangular shawl, of which many are on Ravelry. A few basic guidelines about edge increase and decrease rates and examples would be useful.Finally, I wish it had a visual table of contents such as Stanfield's Knitting Stitch Library (AISN B00RWSWDLW), to make it easier to find (or re-find) stitches I am interested in.

I love, love, love this book! I have taken up knitting several times in my life, but something always gets in the way. 6 years ago I moved to Florida and thought my knitting days were over. I had the opportunity to review this book and realized that these gorgeous shawls are the answer!This is definitely not a beginner book, but the pictures and instructions are so clear that it is definitely approachable with a little practice. There are so many different stitches here that it also is a great reference. What I really like are the designs. Some shawls can look a bit â€œgrandmother-ishâ€, but these are fresh and stylish.A good knitting book should make you want to run for your needles and this one definitely does. Even though I have it electronically, I am buying it in hard copy!

This is a nice intro to extreme beginners who might experience confusion on how to map different patterns to right angle triangle shape. I was hoping to see simple charts of common shawl constructions, but found only couple constructions here, actually only one, extended and explained in detail. This book is a good resource for beginners. It is also a nice in depth dive into one principle of shawl construction. Frankly, I think that I would rather recommend Elizabeth Lovick's Shetland Lace Knitting book over this one to any beginner.This book is a good would benefit a lot from more geometry and less over-explanations of simple concepts.

They are an excellent layering piece, can be worn many different ways and are easy to make. You can use almost any different yarn weight so you can use your special lace weight skein that you bought when you were somewhere special, or a worsted weight that you have laying around in your stash. They make beautiful gifts and the knitted shawls of today are not what your grandma used to make.If you are new to knitting you might not know that Melissa Leapman is a very well known and prolific designer. Her patterns have been in all the major publications for both knitting and crochet. She has written many books herself, some of which I own and I really do love her designs. Part of wanting to check out this book was because I saw that she was the author. She does not disappoint.This book is truly amazing. There are so many components to it, so Iâ€™ll try and break it down for you. First she has 7 steps in creating the perfect shawl. First you choose your silhouette. She breaks down the shawl into the smallest component - the wedge. Then, depending on how you want your shape, you decide how many wedges you want. Two wedges creates the triangle shawl. Once you start adding on, there are different ways you can put the wedges together to get different shapes. You can use up to six wedges. The second step is the choose the stitch pattern. She has many in the book, but you can use any stitch you want, from any stitch pattern book. She has accounted for how to adjust to different number of stitches in the stitch pattern, so really anything can work. Then you decide on your background texture. Choosing between a knit background or a garter stitch background will really make a difference to the appearance of the stitch pattern. Step four asks you to choose your edging and step five a cast on tab, which goes hand in hand with the edging you have chosen. Step six means choosing a border and step seven a bind off and that completes the steps in constructing a shawl. You can choose a solid fabric or decide on a lacy, more openwork design, the choices are endless, but by breaking it into these easy steps nothing is overwhelming.There are fixed patterns that you can follow step by step with picots of what the end product looks like. What is even better is that there is a gallery of shawls at the back set up so that you can see how each of the seven steps apply to each of the patterns. Simple substitution and small tweaks give you another jumping off point to creating your own design. Of course, you can be as creative as your imagination and remember, if you donâ€™t like it, you can always undo it! There are no mistakes. I love that you can all take baby steps and get more creative as you become more comfortable with experience. There are many diagrams and charts that clearly help you map out what style you would like to make. Even with the most basic design, and a simple stitch pattern by simple changing one or two small elements like the border, or the edging, you can end up with a completely new looking shawl. The possibilities are endless!This book is so easy to use, full of inspiration and really limitless in ideas, I think it will become a staple that you will refer to many times for many years. I am so excited! I canâ€™t wait to cast on my first project. Now hmmm, which yarn shall I choose??

John Michael Greer has been a student of the occult traditions and nature spirituality for more than 25 years. He began following the Druid path in 1993 with initiation in the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (OBOD). As a comprehensive and well thought out view of Druidry, I recommend this book. It gives a view of Druidry based on the AODA (Ancient Order of Druids in America) system of which Greer is the leader. While this book provides all the information a person needs to start on the path of Druidry, I would recommend also reading one of the fine books by Philip Carr-Gomm or Emma Restall-Orr to see a slightly different perspective.

Excellent book, clearly written. It provides concrete information about druidry history, current practice, symbolism, and the ogham, Throughout the history section, I felt like the author offered a discerning, academically-sound analysis of what we know instead of taking the classic everything-you-ever-heard-is-true approach. Enough detail was provided about the three rays of light, three circles of manifestation, and three elements of nature that you can actually DO something with the knowledge, instead of needing to pay someone else for more information. A book worthy of my time.

Like many who come to this book, I know John Michael Greer for his Hermetic and general audience political writings. I was aware that he was the AODA's archdruid as well as having an affiliation with ADF, an more explicitly reconstructionist polytheist group. Greer admits that revival Druidry is largely inspired by Masonic, Hermetic, and Victorian romantic revivalist lore and is ecumenical in his approach here. Most of the "Celtic" references are Welsh and there is no theological commitment explicitly made the practice. Greer admits that these roots are early modern and not ancient, and while this will displease some, it is also more honest than some claims to the traditional relationship to Druidry.Like many, I find much of the ritual magic here to be anachronistic to Druidry, although Greer admits this, and just beyond my use of ritual practices. The historical part of the book, which is the first section, was refreshing modest its claims and did accurate the origins interesting, although if you are primarily interested in this aspect of the book, Ronald Hutton's books on Druids are much more detailed. The second part deals with the triads and paths, largely related to the curriculum of the AODA. I admit I do find AODA's take on meditation interesting if mostly speculative.While the most useful to Druidry revitalists in the AODA and OBOD--Celtic Reconstructions and even the ADF druids may not find this as usual--even an outsider to the world like myself can find nuggets of wisdom and use here

I love the fact that this book says right up front that it's not trying to be the "be-all-end-all" authority on Druidry. What it does do is explore Druidry as it's evolved to what it is today, and the beliefs and practices of druids, as well as differentiating between various types of druids on both sides of the Atlantic. I really appreciate the way the author presents the philosophies, the differences, and the history and evolution of Druids and Druidry. It's a really great read! Answered a lot of questions.

Greer does a fantastic job relating, comparing, and showing the stark differences and similarities between The Historical Druids, the Revivalist movement of the self-proclaimed "Druids," and finally, to that of the modern movement known simply as "Druidry." His information is valid, informative, and concise. There was clearly a lot of research and time that went into putting this book together. Greer leaves practically no stone unturned, and the reader will be pleased to walk away informed rather than mis-lead.

This book is well worth the buy. Unlike so many other authors, john makes sure to explain that this is modern druidry, not ancient druidry. He doesnt try to pass off anything as ancient knowledge and even explains that some of the main texts of modern druidry is questionable when you consider whether its ancient or not. He gets you to understand that this is not important. druidry is a way of life, not a religion or a set of dogmas set in stone. Feel welcome no matter what your religion, its about reverance for the earth,land and changing the way you approach modern societies wasteful ways that everyone just accepts as "The way to be". This is by no means an ecofreak book though. It offers ways to change but doesnt act snoody or self rightous.This book is full of mystiscm aswell. It has several elemental charts, including the druid elementals, in depth ritual instructions and wheel of the year info aswell. It lays down the basics of druidism and at the end of the chapters it has a list of suggested reading. On top of this it has a section on the Ogham alphabet, instructs you on the divinitory meaning and such.It also covers meditation. Color breathing, thats all Im gonna say, you need to read the rest lol.It lays down the paths, earth path, sunpath, moon path. And it gives you the 1st degree corriculum, so bassically you can get started right away on your path to druidism. btw i am a follower of the witch path and this is a great way to suppliment that or any religious path.I would reccomend this book to all who are on spiritual paths in life.

Brilliant. An easy enough read to be of real help to the novice practitioner but with multiple layers unfolding with each reading and with continuing practice of the druidry path. Its beauty is in its simplicity and straightforwardness while not only allowing but actually promoting the customization of its teaching and rituals in ways that mesh with your own beliefs, experience, and path of choice. Well done, Mr Greer!

I really enjoyed this book. The cover is amazing and drew me into reading a sample. Once I did, I had to buy it and finish it immediately. This is my first read by these authors. I loved the fast pace of the story, the amount of passion in the story and that there is a bit of action. The characters were fun to read about and I could totally understand just how much they wanted each other. The dialogue was sassy and sweet and the world was well developed. I wanted to jump into the story and spend my St. Patrick's Day with them at their bar.As I have not read any previous stories in this series, I did not know who the secondary characters were or their back stories; so I did feel like I was missing something whenever they were brought up. It did not ruin the story for me, just made me feel left out.The reason I have rated this story at four stars is there are quite a lot of editing error, grammatical errors, and wrong words throughout the entire story. It needs another editing look. It was distracting to the point where I had to re-read pages or sentences to figure out what the authors were trying to say. I do believe that this story has the potential for five stars if this issue is fixed.I will read more from this duo in the future and I will check out the previous books in this series. I am a sucker for holiday themed stories, especially when you add in the insta-love element.

These two characters were in love with each other from afar. When the H reached his breaking point nothing was going to stop him from going after his lady. I loved how he sensed she needed him and came to her rescue which resulted in a slight separation but that their reunion was all the more sweeter. The epilogues were fantastic. Highly recommended.

This was a fast read but it didn't skimp on the good stuff. You can't help but fall in love with Suzy and Ryder. You would think that a big guy like him wouldn't be afraid to share his feelings but he is a guy I suppose. Suzy is so unaware of her appeal and really just wants Ryder but doesn't think he would be interested because she is a size 0. I enjoyed the emotions and passion between the two of them and look forward to going back to Kisding Junction to read about the rest of the cast of characters.

Ryder finally get Suzy onboard with giving them a shot. This book has a bit of action, a lots of sexy times, and a heaping helping of the Insta-love that makes this series so much fun.

Overall this was not only a steamy read about Ryder & Suzy but one that dealt with abuse not only of power but with strength. Recommend

It was difficult to get through due to all the errors. I seriously just gave up after the same sentence was repeated back to back. On top of that it almost seems like the writer even forgot what the characters were doing. There wasn't a lot of flowing.

This series just gets better and better as it goes on. The couple of this book is Ryder and Suzy. Their chemistry is insanely hot and sizzling. Ryder knew she was his Anamchara. Suzy needed for someone to prove that they were in love with her, with everything about her and were ready to be by her side and that whatâ€™s what Ryder was ready to do it all. This story has it all- alpha, possessive hero, sassy, fiery heroine, danger, action, romance, passion, true love, fantastic secondary characters. If you love insta-love romances this this is one you must read. If you love faithful men and sweet heroines, this is the one book to read. There are so many other good reasons to read this book. It is part of the Kissing Junction series which just gets better with each book that comes out. All I will say is I cant wait to read Ryderâ€™s sister book which I hope is next. I liked Ryder in this one. Suzy, not so much. I havenâ€™t cared for her personality in any of the books and then in this one she was rather bland. I donâ€™t know why she waited so long to let him in. And I hated how her weight was brought up a few times. If a females character is drastically different from my looks and/or they are described in a way I donâ€™t find attractive it sort of dampens the book for me as itâ€™s hard to imagine myself as the h if I want to if her appearance keeps being brought up. Overall, this addition wasnâ€™t bad. And I was glad she quit her job.

Great! Bought this for my grandson.

I don't advocate reading SparkNotes (or CliffNotes) but if you are a high school/college student with a busy schedule and don't have time to read Shelley's novel, this does give a complete and accurate summary of the book's contents; it also explores the themes and leitmotivs of the novel quite well. I recommend it highly, although I would never recommend reading SparkNotes in place of the novel itself.

I appreciate how detailed the information contained in the book is.

The information provided at the time of purchase stated I'd receive 4 DVD's. None were included in shipment which consisted of a cheesy expanding file. I called Customer Service number provided. Got the standard "... your call is important to us, a representative will be with you shortly.'. I held the line for 24 minutes listening to an oft repeated few bars of some melody... a customer rep never came on the line. I hung up. The software that supposedly leads you through the process of providing the information you need to create the promised trust, will and powers of attorney is just poorly written, navigation is terrible, everything is just terrible. Additionally the information Suze requires is insufficient to create anything I'd consider acceptable for its intended purpose much less professional. I consider this no more than a scam. I am so disappointed. I want PBS to sever ties with Suze.

The product was good. It takes work. I am still in the process, and am happy the notary at my bank has patience. The only reason I didn't rate it excellent is upon registering it on line, I was recommended to use a free upgraded product. The online upgrade sellsfor half of what I paid for this version. I live in Nevada, where all wills have to go through probate, so a revocable trust is a must.I figure using this saved me at least $1500. If you have the patience and a printer, the product has verbal and written directionsthat walk you through the process.

Terrible. I owned this product in the past. But could not find it so ordered this (expensive) copy.It will not print without blank rectangles it squares blocking the written text!Worthless. What to do now???!
